The A 122 was initially exported exclusively. In 1956, the A 122 was taken over unchanged from Allgaier by Porsche-Diesel and offered as the P 122 from mid-1956 and later as the standard 208.

A total of approximately 5800 units were produced.

As an option, the Porsche P122 could be retrofitted with a single-acting, hydraulic power lift with three-point linkage. This made lifting forces of up to 700 kg possible. A mower could also be attached instead of the power lift.
