Allgaier-Werke’s response to the decline in sales of the A22 tractor was the technical upgrade to the Allgaier diesel A24 tractor. The diesel tractor had more horsepower (24) and was technically state-of-the-art. Just 1,240 models of the A24 tractor were built. Instead of evaporator cooling, the A24 had condensation cooling, which was clearly visible in the openings in the side panels. The tractor was available with a driver’s cab, front fenders and fender seats as optional equipment, which is documented in the Allgaier Diesel A24 operating instructions. In particular, the hydraulic power lift with one or two cylinders and three-point hitch could be used for many jobs. Twin tires, an all-weather canopy and a mounted track were possible. The mower deck was available in 4 or 4.5 inches. Starting could be made easier using the electric starting and pre-heating system for an additional charge. With a frame construction and a dead weight of 1600 kg, the Allgaier diesel A24 tractor followed its predecessors. According to the Allgaier A24 workshop manual, it was equipped with an engine from Allgaier, the R24, which had a proven water-cooled horizontal 1-cylinder/4-stroke vortex chamber diesel engine with pressure circulation lubrication. It had a manually adjustable centrifugal governor, replaceable cylinder liners and a Bosch injection pump. The piston had six rings. The engine was cooled using condensation cooling, but this subsequently failed to increase sales figures. The single-disc dry clutch (type K 12Z, Allgaier-Diesel A24 spare parts list) came from Fichtel & Sachs. The mechanical gear thrust transmission with four forward gears and one reverse gear had a straight-toothed bevel gear ratio as a differential.
