Further components from the A 24. A 40 Z from its predecessor with trapezoidal fenders and modified steering. The Allgaier diesel A 40Z was offered until around 1954. Allgaier created a unique track tractor based on the A 40 Z, but nothing is known about its use. A row-crop version with a steerable front wheel was intended for the South American market. Exact production figures for the A 40 Z are not available, but it is estimated that there were around 50 units. When sales of the Allgaier Diesel A 40Z tractor collapsed in the early 1950s due to problems with the six-speed gearbox, the Allgaier Diesel A 40Z tractor was replaced with the proven ZF 5-speed gearbox. The diesel tractor was manufactured between 1952 and 1953 in a small number of 200 units. According to the Allgaier A40 Z workshop manual, the technical components largely corresponded to the Allgaier A40 tractor, the previous model, with the exception of a few small changes that determined the Allgaier A40 Z price. The engine came from Allgaier and was a 2-cylinder/4-stroke swirl chamber diesel engine with water cooling and pressure circulation lubrication. The injection pump came from Bosch. With wet, replaceable cylinder liners, a triple-bearing crankshaft, a larger stroke and pump circulation cooling with an oil bath air filter, the tractor reached a speed of over 20 km/h, which was differentiated by the ZF 5-speed transmission. According to the Allgaier A40 Z spare parts list, the single-disc dry clutch came from Fichtel & Sachs.
