The predecessor of the Allgaier diesel A16. With the A 12, Allgaier offered a small tractor that was intended to provide relief for farmers who had previously worked with draft animals by purchasing one. The vertical, 1-cylinder diesel engine was equipped with the 5-speed gearbox of the AP 17, whereby the gear block was made of gray cast iron instead of an aluminum alloy to save costs. The tractor was simple in construction (block construction) and in operation (hand crank start). It had a mower driven directly by the engine and a power take-off shaft as an important technical component. The ABE was issued by the Federal Motor Transport Authority on December 17, 1951 under number 796 for two versions: A 1 and A 2, with rear tires of size 7-24 and B 1 and B 2, with rear tires of size 8-24. The ABE expired on 2/1955. Various technical changes led to the Allgaier diesel A16, which with its 16 hp was between the A 111 and the AP 22 in terms of performance. The technology and construction corresponded to the Allgaier diesel A12. The first Allgaier Diesel A16 tractors were delivered with identical paneling to the Allgaier Diesel A12. The second version had an extended engine cowling that looked similar to that of the A 12. This was caused by a modified front axle bracket, which now also accommodated a larger battery (in front of the radiator). The third and final version had the characteristic Porsche hood.

Because the panel folds back, the tank and toolbox also had to be changed. Depending on the tire size used, either trapezoidal or round fenders were used. For better cooling, the engine could be subsequently equipped with a water pump. The Allgaier Diesel A16 was replaced by the AP 16. Until the beginning of 1956, Allgaier still manufactured a few Allgaier Diesel A16s in Uhingen. The ABE was issued by the Federal Motor Transport Authority on September 17, 1952 under number 957 for four versions; A and B, with rear tires size 8 – 24. C, with rear tires size 8 – 32 and D, with rear tires size 10 – 28. The ABE expired on January 25, 1956. Changes during the series: The cladding was changed during series production, with the characteristic Porsche bonnet being introduced from around October 1953 until production was discontinued.
